And Independence Day celebrations on November 11 a national holiday set for the first time in 1937. In the years 1939-44 during the Nazi occupation and during the period from 1945 to 1989, during the communist rule handling holidays November 11 was banned. Only in 1989, the Diet Law, the celebration of this feast was restored, the Independence Day this year is the most important state holiday and 11 November is a day off from work. Feast is celebrated throughout the country but the main celebrations take place in Warsaw on the square at the Joseph Piłsudzkiego Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
