Headaches are a common health problem that people have all over the world. In some cultures people use special herbs, such as plants which contain a chemical found in aspirins. These days, most people usually take a tablet to treat a headache. Many years ago headaches were treated differently and some of them could be hard to believe for us. For example, they made holes in the heads of people with headaches, so headache could be let out. In ancient Egypt, medicine men used to tie a ceramic crocodile, filled with herbs, to the head of the patient. In the Middle Ages people that did go to doctors were treated with leeches, which were put on the patient’s body near the place where the pain was – in the case of headaches, leeches were put on the neck.
